As you may recall, I bought several (6 ea.). They were all used during open water training. One or two were worn during a triathlon, though not needed. The watercraft are usually near enough to help you if you get in trouble.  Four of us are still doing triathlons. We now use them as buoys we tow behind while training. It gives you a chance to rest during the long open water swims.  We liked the feeling of security

I used it to do open water training when I don't wear a wetsuit.  I still do triathlons from Sprint to full IM.  It gives me peace of mind when training. I wasn't a very strong swimmer when I began, and I still like having the protection of the device.

I use it now for open ocean swimming. Never used it in a race, but have competed in a number triathlons.  We live in Cabarete, Dominican Republic on the ocean and I swim in the mornings before the surf gets too heavy. We have a reef about a quarter mile out which I swim to and swim around for about a mile when the waves are under about three feet. It is open ocean.  I’m usually all alone with tricky currents and waves and I feel much safer with the SwimSafe. Each day I remove the cartridge and wash the mechanism. Every so often I sacrifice a cartridge and test it. Salt water is tough.  It’s small and really doesn’t affect my slow swimming.  My wife feels better that I have a PDF with me.  I don’t do triathlons anymore (open heart surgery a couple of years ago, I’m 73) but always look forward to my winter swims.  Never needed to use it in an emergency, thank goodness, but really glad to wear it.  I have recommended it to a number of people. I use the SwimSafe PFD for open water swim training when I am doing ocean swims without a buddy, no lifeguard within sight or not wearing a wetsuit.  This PFD is very easy to deploy. I have tested it several times to ensure it still works properly, usually once at the beginning of the triathlon season.  Repacking was pretty straight forward. Best Regards.

I use it when I don’t have a wet suit on. Have not deployed it yet. Easy to wear. Streamlined. Not bulky. I feel safer cuz at times I get leg cramps. I was thinking of getting em for my kids when they are out on the water with friends.  I think it’s a great design.

I use SwimSafe for open water training and racing. I’m training for my 4th Ironman and I like that it is available in case there is a problem.  I prefer the waist model as opposed to those that are around the thigh. I’ve never had to "use" it during a race, but it’s there if I need it.  I wish Ironman would require SwimSafe at their events as there have been a lot of people who have drowned who may have benefited from it.

I used the Swimsafe PFD for open water training in lakes and rivers, but never in competitions.  I’m still swimming open water with several other ladies. Many of them have the same belt and have had them for over 10 years.  I like the fact that it’s comfortable to swim in- very light, doesn’t get in my way, and it gives me a little more assurance that if I got a cramp or got in trouble, I have some flotation.  I’m not competing right now, but swim open water frequently.  Peter bought it for me because he was afraid I’d drown swimming open water. I haven’t yet!
