Several years ago I participated in the 2002 Ironman in Provo, Utah. One of the athletes tragically drowned when an unexpected wind storm caught everyone off guard. I’ll never forget the look on my wife’s face as I came out of the water. She had witnessed the emergency personnel administering CPR to one of the athletes, not knowing if it was me they were trying to save. Because of that event, a friend and I developed a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) that everyone would want to wear in the open water for safety and security. We called the product and the company SwimSafe.
After that tragic event I heard about Total Immersion Swimming and began learning that there is a better way of swimming both in the pool and in open water. Total Immersion improved my swimming so much that I started doing open water races including 5K, 10K (6.2 miles). For the last 10 years I’ve told hundreds of people about the benefits of TI. I’m excited to be in a position where I can coach others the grace and enjoyment that comes with Total Immersion Swimming.
